The fluorescence intensity was proportional to the amount of H2O2 present in the cell. H2O2 was found to be around 90 times higher in PIM-grown cells than in PNIM-grown cells (Fig. 2e). In the PNIM culture, H2O2 was below the detectable level. The H2O2 concentration in PIM-growing cells steadily increased to 91 mM for 24 h and then remained stable up to 48 h of incubation.
